Game Setup
Here on this page you'll find out all of the basics about customizing your game setup. Redefining the controls, changing the player model you fight as, what crosshair you aim with, whether a minimap appears ingame, and a few other things too.

From the Galaxy screen select "Tools" and then "Launch Alien Arena". Or you can press Escape in game.

On the following screen select "Game Options" by clicking it.

The new screen is where you can access most of the games customization options. Customize Controls will take you to where you can redefine your keys and so on, Player Setup will take you to where you can change names, your characters ingame image etc.

There are a few options here on this screen you may want to adjust though.

Shaders, Shadows, Dynamic Lights : Change how the game looks. Turning them off may get you a boost in how well the game runs.

Crosshair : Lets you change the crosshair you use to aim.

Minimap : Displays a small map ingame. This option toggles it on and off.

Mouse Speed : Makes your mouse react faster or slower.

Invert Mouse : Quite possibly makes moving your mouse downwards move your ingame crosshair upwards.

Force Martian Models : When set to ON all players you see will have the same model.

Customize Controls

Here is where you can setup the keys you use for movement, powerups, attacking etc.

Most are fairly self explanatory, but a couple might need a few words.

Sproing, Haste, Invisibility - These are all part of the ingame powerup system. You earn points by killing opponents. Once you have enough points (it varies from server to server) you can press whatever key you have defined here to activate that powerup.

A couple keys aren't listed on here - "T" will let you talk in game. "Y" lets you talk to your team only when you are in a team game. The Tilde "`" key brings up the console where you can enter commands (although, most of you will never need the console).

Player Setup

This screen again is pretty self explanatory - it's where you can change your player model and skin etc. Just have a play around with Model and Skin until you get one that you like.

You can also change your name - best do so if your name is just the default "player", that's a bit boring. Please, nothing rude though.

Many people like to set the last 3 options - Player Models/Skins, Models, Sounds - to NO. It tends to save hassle on downloading stuff that you don't need to play the game.
