Chatroom
In order to get to the Alien Arena chatroom you will need an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client. There is one built into the Alien Arena software which is good if you just want to drop by for a moment, but there are a lot of limitations (for example, you can't receive personal messages) to it if you intend hanging around full time.

Here we're going to look at just a few IRC clients that you might want to use as an alternative, some that you install and another that you can just use in your normal web browser.

First though, why on earth would you want to hang around in our chat room? Well, it's fun for one thing, most of the regulars hang out there, so it's a great place to meet people, get advice or help, and plan games. If you are looking at joining a clan too then most of the clans prefer that you at least pop into IRC from time to time.

By far the simplest way to get to our chatroom without installing any software can be found at http://www.efnet.org/

On that site, you'll see this little box in the top left :

Just enter whatever name you want to use, type #alienarena in the Channel box and click login. You'll be in chat in no time at all.

If you want to hang around regularly or full time though then you will probably want to get a proper IRC client that you can install.

I'll not run through all of the setups here, but some good ones that you might want to consider are :

MIRC
Icechat (free)
Kvirc (free)

The setup on each is slightly different, but one thing remains the same - to get to our chat channel you need to specify an Efnet server and then join channel #alienarena

If you need help setting up any of these then there is plenty of documentation on the softwares official sites to get you started, and anything else we'll be more than happy to sort out with you in the chatroom itself.
