Update Video Drivers/OpenGL Problems
So, you've tried to start a game and you've come up against a dreaded screen telling you something about swapbuffers failing, blah de blah - and a message telling you to update your graphics card. Never fear - nearly all graphics cards can run Alien Arena, and this page is going to tell you how to identify and update your drivers for them. On this page you can find a guide to updating your drivers in Windows XP and Windows Vista, and also a list of the few graphics cards we know of that will not run the game.

Graphics Cards that are known to be very unlikely to run Alien Arena :


Windows XP

Find the manufacturer and type of your video card. Normally you can find this information in the manual of your computer (look for technical specifications) or in Windows itself:

    * Right-click on the desktop and select "Properties"
    * In the Display Properties window, click on the "Settings" tab
    * Your video card manufacturer and chipset type is mentioned on the "Display:" line
    * Look for the names NVIDIA, ATI, or Intel   

























If this does not show the Card Model and name do these next steps:





















































This last picture should say the Name and Model of your video card



























Download and install the latest drivers for your type of video card.  Note: you will always have to reboot when finished installing the drivers also do NOT download the Drivers From Microsoft update site

Windows Vista


    * Right-click on the desktop and select "Personalize" Then select "Display Settings"
    * Your video card manufacturer and chipset type is mentioned right below the monitor picture(s)
    * Look for the names NVIDIA, ATI, or Intel 



























Download and install the latest drivers for your type of video card.  Note: you will always have to reboot when finished installing the drivers. Also do NOT download the Drivers From Microsoft update site
